actually, it works …
actually, it works pretty well. he doesnt just hire good looking people, he makes them wear the clothes when they work. when people come in and see the clothing on modelesque girls and boys, they buy it, even if the clothes don’t look on everyone. they look cool by association (because you see good looking girls and boys wearing them). american apparel employees are walking billboard ads. and it works; some people walk out wearing the same outfits that the employees are wearing.

I worked at that store for 3 months, and I was so fed up with the bull that i left….all the rumors you hear are true. people who still work for that company will defend that store to the death simply because they think it’s a status symbol if you work there..

my store had to take group photo’s-
he made a lot of personal calls to even stock employee’s cell phones…
he called our merchandiser, and instructed her to fire all employees in the intire city with visable piercings or tattoos-
she told him that we we’re good workers and that she would refuse to fire anybody under those pretences.
I would not like to get fired because im ugly….

Wrong man, I don’t HAVE to fire any of my employees. He’s looking at a sense of fashion, not how attractive you are. Anyone can wear blank clothing, you have to be innovative to wear it well and sell it. I asked him about it myself. If you don’t like the man and you’re taking a stand don’t wear his clothes.

I bet he is over-looking the fact that poor customer service and a lousy selection of merchandise exists. They keep it up and they will lose customers and eventually be extinct (something I would love to see most American businesses fall victim to.) (cont.) Not to mention the service at that American Apparel store was so bad words couldn’t even describe. Another thing about the Un-United States I hate with a passion is exactly that (i.e. bad service.) I recently went into an American Apparel store in Ireland (and I do mean Ireland) and had NO issues going in there with a backpack. Most businesses (due to the HUGE number of THIEVES we have here) won’t even let you be with one.

Two things about this:
* Yes it’s bad that he’s sacking ugly people, that’s totally unacceptable and i wonder if he could be prosecuted.
* Yes he could be considered ugly, but you can’t expect a CEO to have all the qualities of all their employees. For instance, you can’t expect him to be a good overlocker or know how to fix the air con in his shops, so why expect him to be good-looking? It doesn’t make him a hypocrite.
