The Emperor’s New Clothes or the Employee’s New Woes!

A few years ago there lived an employee who was quite an average employee who made a very average wage, with one exception: he cared much about his above average lifestyle. One day he heard from two swindlers…lenders, named…you name them…that said they could make the finest loan from the most meager income. This loan, they said, also had a special interest rate that was invisible to anyone who was either stupid or not fit for his position, including most of the leadership of the lending institution itself.

Being a bit nervous about whether he himself would be able to see the dept associated with the invisible interest rate, the employee first sent two of his trusted friends to consider it. Of course, neither would admit that they could see the increased payments looming and so they praised it. All the townspeople had also heard of the entry loan and were interested to learn how stupid their neighbors were but not wanting to be left out also bought into the invisible interest creep.

The employee then allowed himself to be wrapped in the debt for a procession through town, never admitting that he was too unfit and stupid to see what he was really getting himself into. He was afraid that the other people would think that he was stupid.

Of course, all the townspeople wildly praised the magnificent introductory rates of the employee, afraid to admit that they could not see the coming disaster. The further he walked the deeper in debt he became. The bills he gathered were stuffed into his trousers. As the miles increased his bills grew bigger, until a small child said:

“Look, his pants are down!”

This was whispered from person to person until everyone in the crowd began to notice that they too had their pants down in various stages. The employee finally heard the whispers and felt the breeze across his backside, but held his head high and waddled amongst a crowd of bewildered people. His lifestyle was high, his debt was high and behold…his pants were low! Oh, the employee’s new woes!

The Emperor’s New Clothes is a Danish fairy tale written by Hans Christian Andersen and first published in 1837, as part of Eventyr, Fortalte for Børn (Fairy Tales, Told for Children). It was originally known as Keiserens Nye Klæder. Stephen McNiel translated it a bit different for 2007.

Baby Clothes – Tips To Purchase Great Clothes For Your Baby

“Baby Tees” are all the rage now that we are in the Millenium, with companies taking the concept to a new level. We have all seen the basic shirts emblazoned “I Love Mummy” and “My Dad Loves Me”, but now with this New Age, designer shirts are more outrageous than ever to show off our baby and the parent’s personality.

Wry Baby is a company which specialises in humourous t-shirts. Among the favourites are ones that read, “New”, “Scented”, “I’m Not a Boy”, and special ones for twins which say, “Stop Copying Me”. You can also get ones which come complete with everything you need for baby care including feeding and carrying.

If your baby is breast fed, you can get shirts styled like the “I Love New York” ones, which instead read, “I Love Big Boobies”. A popular take on a car
bumper sticker which may be more of a PG rating, is one of a picture featuring a tricycle, and reads, “Blankie, Boopie, or Bottle, Nobody Rides for Free”.

Baby Wit, is an online shopping service where shoppers can browse through a vast range of t-shirts for both babies and toddlers. You will find everything you want here from a cheeky or cute monkey for your baby’s shirt, or maybe one that has a political statement, or even something cool to hang out in. You can also get ones with the more controversial statements like, “My Mommy Drinks Because I Cry”, or “He Thinks He’s My Daddy”. You can also find some very amusing shirts, or tame shirts which are more favourable with the family. This site is also a good source for novelty shirts for your baby like, “Been Inside for Nine Months”(like a prison suit) and a cheeky, “Come Closer So I Can Spit On You”. We all have different tastes, so there is a choice for everyone!

Creative parents will have a taste for sites which feature in the more personalised t-shirts for their baby. You may also want to design something of your own choice which can now be copied and printed onto a shirt; maybe go with one a touch more exciting that reads, “Look, Maybe Someday I’ll Be changing Your Nappies”, so get creative.

For the more politically minded, there is a company based in Massachusetts, mypunkbaby.com, which from all their takings five percent is donated to various charities, with one chosen each month to receive the proceeds. When shoppers go to checkout they have a ballot which allows them to choose one of the highlighted charities for the month, so that they have their say in where the donations go. They are helping a good cause at the same time.

Your baby’s clothing can also be a way for you to instill values which are important to you – they could be about your favourite sayings, a rock band, orsomething that holds moral fibre or ethics. An example, lately is of a baby shower which was given for a friend who had just finished college: a baby t-shirt with the Guns ‘n’ Roses logo and the words, “Sweet Child O’ Mine” printed on the front, was given to the new mum. We can pass on our good tastes to the next generation.

Jewellery and How to Accessorise Your Clothes

Adding accessories to an outfit can tranform it from the ordinary to the spectacular. With careful choice they can even adapt day wear into evening wear. This is particularly useful if you are going straight out after work.  Accessories add detail and personality to what you are wearing and make it individual.

Imagine a simple pewter shift dress.  I have chosen pewter because this is a colour that suits everybody.  Now add a pair of knee high boots, black leather handbag, fitted jacket and a simple pendant necklace and stud earrings and you have a smart work outfit.

Now imagine teaming the dress with an elegant pair of black stilettos and a simple gold chain necklace and perhaps a gold watch and gold earrings or with red patent heeled shoes and handbag, a string of red beads and the look is completely different.

The same dress can be quickly transformed into evening wear with a few minor changes.

There are a few rules to consider when accessorizing an outfit.  Consider the size of the necklace and earrings in proportion to your own build.  A petite woman under 5’3” with a small bone structure would be overwhelmed by a string of large beads or big hooped earrings.  If a tall woman wears a tiny pendant, it will be too small to make an impact.  Remember; match the size of your jewellery to your size.

The accessories need to be appropriate for the occasion.  At work it would be inappropriate to wear ostentatious jewellery and excessively pendulous earrings.  Equally the type of jewellery you may wear with casual clothes will be very different from formal wear.

Accessories are a way of expressing yourself or brightening up a neutral outfit.  Going back to the pewter shift dress, it is immediately “lifted” by the edition of the red beads.  Using accessories can transform a black dress, particularly if you are “soft”, “warm” or “light” and should really avoid black.  By wearing a scarf or jewellery in one of your most flattering colours, it will add an instant glow to your complexion.

Some women favour gold over silver and vice versa.   On some women gold will stand out against their skin and silver will blend with their colouring or the reverse.   I would not suggest that you should stick to one or the other, just consider the effect your skin colouring has on the jewellery and in turn the effect it has on your overall appearance.

When buying jewellery, use the criteria given above, set a budget and plenty of time.  In this way costly mistakes will be avoided and old outfits given a new lease of life.

Designer Baby Clothes – 3 Hot Brands For Your Kids To Flaunt!

Fashion is a saga that we all sing all through our lives, that is when we are in a position to understand the changing trends. When it comes to the new-borns & toddlers, it is their parents who play the key role buy spending a fortune on the kiddy’s one-time wear.

Even though they know that the child would outgrow each & every attire within weeks, those who can afford never miss a chance to detail fashion through their li’l one. The fashion designers understand this market need & demand, and hence design special kids clothing lines every year, in fact every season.

While these designer options may cost a fortune, the up-market brands like Christian Dior & Kimora Lee along with several other top fashion houses design & manufacture a flawless range of kid wear enlisting bibs, body suits, booties, softened bonnets, redefining beauty.

As compared, the kids’ clothing at Kmart is far more economical yet charming.

Some of the key brands to mention in the up-market fashion context among kids are as follows:

1. Baby Dior

a. Baby Dior is a sub-line of the well known brand Christian Dior.
b. Another sub brand of Christian Dior for kids is Dubbed Baby Dior. This range includes items such as the charming 100% Cotton baby body suit embellished with pink / blue snaps and the teddy bear logo on the front.
c. This baby body suit costs you around $ 55 from the site – www.eluxury.com.
d. This website is good enough for the parents who are on the search for attractive kids items.
e. They may also check out the $ 115 Baby Dior’s hooded towels on this site.

2. Baby Phat

a. The founder of Def Jam Records and the Rap Pioneer, Russell Simmons innovated a unique way to add the zing thing in the nursery.
b. In order to promote his men’s hip-hop style line of clothing called as the Phat Farm Line, Simmons designed various small t-shirts, all of which had a print on them that read ‘Baby Phat’.
c. Further, these t-shirts were dressed up by the female celebrities & models, hence, they managed to garner a lot of attention.
d. Then he launched the ‘Baby Phat’ range of kids clothing. Simmons wife Kimora Lee was the Creative Director.
e. Till date, Baby Phat produces clothing for young girls, right from their infancy to the teenage. The prices of these tees vary from $ 11 to $ 18.
f. You can also look for some matching outfits that cost you from $ 34 to $ 42.

3. Anne Geddes

a. Anne Geddes, the famous photographer has made her maiden entry in the world of kids clothing.
b. Just like her photography, that is the babies wearing dresses of the bumble bees, sunflowers, ladybugs, rosebuds, etc., Geddes has now launched her brand that is called Annegeddesbaby.
c. This clothing line features attire for you babies to look like the one from Anne Geddes’ photographs; that implies that you would be able to dress your kids & the new-borns like a ladybugs, bumble bees, sunflowers, rosebuds, etc.
d. For this you would have to shell out a whooping price, for instance, Ladybug Jacket – $ 39.50, Rosebud Quilt – $ 29.50, Bunny Suit along with the Hat & Booties Set – $ 69.50.

While the concept of designer baby clothes seems very futile as well know that the child would outgrow the expensive dress in just one or merely two wearings, the parents who do not want to spend this sort of money can totally relax. The dresses that the kids would outgrow today, would reach the shelves of the nearest Salvation Army and / or the Goodwill stores soon, with an intriguing price tag of $ 1.50.

Baby Clothes -3 Indispensable Tips To Go Beyond Just Fashion

Blue for Boys & Pink for Girls……… that’s all we are able to evaluate while making purchases for your child that is yet to be born. Those expecting twins excitedly pick two pieces of each item. But there are far more things involved in making these purchases that we all tend to forget amidst the excitement & volley of happiness.

Here are some essential tips that shall help you make the preparations rather seamlessly.

1. Comfort over Cuteness

a. Like all the kids in the world look ‘cute’ there are shelves full of dresses that seem to be very appealing & one suddenly feels, wow, how cute would by baby look wearing this piece. But, here we need to understand that the child’s shin is very tender & delicate.

b. Before getting too sentimental for that attire, check that its material must not hurt the child’s delicate skin.

c. For the new borns, instead of the constrictive flashy options, go for the natural fabrics like cotton.

d. The idea is that the materials meant for kids be able to breathe.

e. Other essential qualities that the new borns’ attire must have are softness & absorbency.

f. Instead of focusing on the beauty, shift your primary focus on child’s comfort.

g. And to console you, there would be plenty of times when you would be able to force your teenager to wear attire of your choice and embarrass him/her.

2. Accessibility

a. Though the dresses can be made pretty endlessly with those dressy buttons, fasteners & straps, do not forget the diaper job.

b. As a parent you must not forget that your li’l devil would manage to soil everything that he wears and you shall have to reach to his / her time & again. Here, if you opt for a dress that has too many fasteners & buttons, mind it, you are adding more difficulties to your job.

c. As parents you would need to clean up the mess created by your blood for the next 18 to 20 years, but opting for some less complicated dresses, you can make you job easier for at least the initial years.

3. Ease of Care

a. While you are still in that store, make to check the care labels of the dress you opt for your new born.

b. Though, it is quite not possible to find a dry clean label on a new borns’ dress, there is no harm playing safe.

c. You must be sure that the attire does not call for any special requirements like bleaches, detergents, or fabric softeners.

d. The attire then obviously must be machine washable.

e. Owing to all the above mentioned factors, cotton once again becomes a sure shot choice for the new borns.

f. Never the less, we must not forget that pure cotton is considered a nasty choice as it has an indispensable quality of shrinkage at every wash in hot water.

g. This implies that your child would outgrow his / her clothes quite quickly.

h. A simple remedy to this problem is to opt for fabrics that have a blend of cotton and other fibers that make it non-shrinking, and hence acceptable.

i. The trick to do so, is to lean for fabrics that have a higher ratio of cotton and are yet non-shrinking and of course, above all, comfortable for the new born.
